    Turkey - Yavuz Sultan Selim Bridge

    Freyssinet cables set a new world record for span length

    The Yavuz Sultan Selim Bridge was inaugurated today at a ceremony attended by President Recep Tayyip Erdoðan. The hybrid bridge's 1,408-metre span fitted with Freyssinet cables sets the new world record for cable-stayed span length.

    Morocco - Opening of the Mohammed VI Bridge

    On 7 July 2016, King Mohammed VI of Morocco opened the new cable-stayed bridge of the same name in Rabat. At 950 metres, it is one of the longest cable-stayed bridges in Africa.

    Construction

    Dammam Bridge: a strategic project in Saudi Arabia

    Between May 2012 and April 2015, Freyssinet took part in the project aimed at improving the road infrastructures for the Port of Dammam in Saudi Arabia. The programme included the construction of a 2.3 km viaduct that prolongs Dammam's Coastal Road and straddles the extremely busy Port Road and the railway line serving the port. A construction method never before seen in Saudi Arabia was used for this precast segmental bridge, which was erected by means of a launching gantry.

    Cathodic protection for the port of Ajaccio

    Freyssinet France teams recently completed repair works for Ajaccio's commercial port. On the agenda in this major project: reprofiling, shotcrete reinforcement and application of impressed current and sacrificial anode cathodic protection on the Capucins and Trois Marie breakwaters.

    Freyssinet completes successful bridge slide using Autofonçage® in Immingham (UK)

    During Christmas 2015, Freyssinet successfully slid a concrete bridge beneath the line of the Immingham to Ulceby railway line (England).

    The MuCEM winner of ACI Excellence in Concrete Construction Awards

    Global projects were recognized American Concrete Institute (ACI) during an event at The Concrete Convention and Exposition, in Denver, CO, USA, on November 9th. The highest “Excellence” award was presented to MuCEM: Museum of European and Mediterranean Civilizations located in Marseilles, France.

    Miyako-Irabu Bridge, a new reference in Japan

    FKK (Kyokuto Kogen Concrete Shinko Co., Ltd.), licensee of Freyssinet in Japan for post-tensioning, supplied the post-tensioning for the marine bridge connecting Miyako Island and Irabu Island of the Okinawa archipelago, located in the southernmost point of the country.

    Freyssinet winner of the CIHT Innovation Award for the Hammersmith project

    Freyssinet won the CIHT/Ringway Innovation Award 2015 together with Costain, TfL and RPB (Ramboll & Parsons Brinckerhoff) for their entry “Hammersmith Flyover Strengthening and Refurbishment” – which has extended the life of Hammersmith Flyover through pioneering post tensioned design and construction innovation.

    Mexico - Coatzalcoacos I bridge repair

    The Coatzacoalcos I Bridge lies south-east of the city of Coatzacoalcos on federal highway 180 between Matamoros and Puerto Juárez, in the State of Veracruz, Mexico. Opened in 1962, this road and railway lift bridge required considerable repair and reinforcement work, which was carried out in several stages between September 2011 and October 2014.

    A new reference for Freyssinet in Algeria

    The keying operation for the "eighth wonder" of the city of Constantine in Algeria was completed on Thursday 29 May 2014 after 18 months of concurrent work on four fronts including three balanced cantilevers and a cast-in-place span, on a 24/7 work schedule.

    Extending the life of Hammersmith Flyover - second step of the strengthening works

    After the first phase of work to repair the Hammersmith Flyover before the London Olympic Games in 2012, Freyssinet has been chosen again for the second step. Work to strengthen the structure, with the bearings replaced, a new carriageway drainage system installed and the entire flyover waterproofed and resurfaced, has started in January 2014.

    UK - Freyssinet complete a concrete repair and bridge bearing replacement job at the M6 Toll over the river Cole

    Freyssinet were engaged by Midland Expressway Ltd to carry out inspections on a number of structures on the M6 Toll Road. During these inspections, it was identified that existing longitudinal guide bearings on the River Cole Bridge were defective. These bridge bearings were adopted by the toll road from existing road networks. Freyssinet were then instructed to provide a solution to re-instate the required guidance of the deck.

    The Seine-Maritime Department chose Freyssinet for repair works to the Mathilde Bridge in Rouen, damaged by a severe fire in October 2012.

    Construction of the MuCEM in Marseilles - Behind the scenes

    The Museum of European and Mediterranean Civilisations, also known as MuCEM, opened in 2013 in Marseilles (France). On the site, Freyssinet assembled, adjusted and keyed the 309 prestressed tree columns surrounding the exhibition halls and the two footbridges St-Laurent and Fort St-Jean.

    A stay-cable bridge for the Istanbul Metro

    In Istanbul, the Haliç Bridge, the fourth across the Golden Horn, has just been completed. The structure, which is made up of two access viaducts, a cable-stayed bridge and a swing bridge, is built on a historical site and will make it possible to extend a metro line in a city plagued by traffic jams.
