Bucharest - Seismic devices for the City Hall

Freyrom (Freyssinet in Romania) supplied 262 isolators for the base isolation of the Main City Hall of Bucharest, a building over 100 years old.
Each of the devices is more than 1 m in diameter, 58 cm high and weighs more than 2 t. The isolators were tested successfully at the University of San Diego and comply with the new N15129 on anti-seismic devices.
Freyrom's scope also includes loading and load transfer using flat jacks. Base isolation is often the best solution for the seismic protection of historic buildings in highly seismic areas, such as Romania.

The project was completed at the end of 2013 after 2 years of work.
