Sustainable solutions in action: Freyssinet Polska reinforces and optimizes a key infrastructure project over the Odra river!

 On the 140m main span of this 400m-long, 13.5m-wide bridge (originally built in 2010), we strengthened the concrete box girder using:

 The innovative Freyssinet 1R15 non-adhesive post-tensioning system, featuring the 1R15 Monotor anchor, designed specifically for reinforcing existing structures. Compared to traditional external prestressing anchors requiring a concrete boss, the Monotor anchor offers:

 High performance and reliability, ensuring optimal load transfer;

 Ease of installation, minimizing disruption during reinforcement;

 A direct transfer of the prestressing force to the bare substrate for enhanced efficiency.

Passive carbon fiber tapes for targeted structural reinforcement.

Resin injection to repair and seal cracks in the reinforced concrete.

In this project, Freyssinet optimized the original design, reducing carbon fiber mats with the Freyssinet 1R15 system. This innovation significantly reduced material use, resulting in a carbon footprint reduction from 222 tons to just 56 tons of CO2e.

The entire optimization process, including convincing the client with detailed design alternatives and financial analysis, was completed in just 4 months. By integrating this phase into our contractual schedule, we shortened the overall construction timeline from 12 months to 8 months.

Why does this matter?

Faster project completion means fewer emissions from construction equipment, reduced travel, and optimized resource use further contributing to sustainability.

A big congratulations to our Freyssinet Polska Special Engineering Division team for their commitment to innovation, efficiency, and environmental responsibility.
